We first discovered Quinta da Relva on a winter’s evening in 1981. We instantly fell in love with the tumbledown house on the abandoned farm in the Serra de Monchique. We were looking for the real Portugal and this was certainly the perfect place.
With the help of a very patient local builder, over several years, the house was brought back to life; renovated using traditional materials, granite from our quarry, local chestnut and pine. We reclaimed the terraces from the ever encroaching brambles to create our garden.
We are committed to our community and use local tradespeople and shops. We have worked with our manager and our housekeeper for more than 25 years. Our food travels metres not miles in most cases and we enjoy being involved in the towns traditions and way of life.
This is a real family home which we all enjoy and come as often as time allows.
We are very enthusiastic about our private paradise. We think you will love it too.
If you are coming for a relaxing holiday there is so much to do and enjoy at the quinta and in the local surroundings. We have lost count of the number of times our guests have described it as ‘absolute heaven’.
If you are coming for an activity holiday we love to show guests our lovely mountains, introduce you to new friends and unforgettable experiences.
