ABOUT US
We first discovered Quinta da Relva on a winter’s evening in 1981. We instantly fell in love with the tumbledown house on the abandoned farm in the Serra de Monchique. We were looking for the real Portugal and this was certainly the perfect place.
With the help of a very patient local builder, over several years, the house was brought back to life; renovated using traditional materials, granite from our quarry, local chestnut and pine. We reclaimed the terraces from the ever encroaching brambles to create our garden.
We are committed to our community and use local tradespeople and shops. We have worked with our manager and our housekeeper for more than 25 years. Our food travels metres not miles in most cases and we enjoy being involved in the towns traditions and way of life.
This is a real family home which we all enjoy and come as often as time allows.
We are very enthusiastic about our private paradise and we think you will love it too.
If you are coming for a relaxing holiday, there is so much to do and enjoy at the quinta and in the local surroundings. We have lost count of the number of times our guests have described it as ‘absolute heaven’…

Diana
Your Host
Diana lives in Dorking, Surrey. She is always available to help you to organise the perfect holiday, be it a relaxing family break, a special occasion or a more challenging adventure. The house and garden is her continuing labour of love where every season has it’s delights.
Marie Anne
Manager
Marie- Anne of Turifoia is the manager. She has lived in Monchique since she was 4 years old and knows everything and everybody in there! She is on hand to help every day from the Turifoia office in the town. She is also an experienced chef, who is passionate about the local produce and traditional menus. Marie - Anne can provide catering for guests and cooking lessons.
Amalia
Housekeeper
Amalia is our housekeeper and will be looking after the house and garden during your stay.
She has worked with the host, Diana for over 25 years. She is a truly creative homemaker and an incredible gardener.
