Creative Holidays at Quinta da Relva

Quinta da Relva in Serra da Monchique has been an inspiration for several artists over the years.

Idris Murphy- Artist has travelled here from Australia twice to paint and plans to return with a group of artists from Sydney.

The landscape here is immensely diverse and infinitely fascinating. From the cork trees, fig trees and delicate flowers in the garden, to smoke spiralling up from the foothills in a winters day, distant views and a magnificent coastline The source of inspiration is unending.

Claire Crowther, Poet has spent time working here.

I went to Quinta da Relva as an urban poet and came back a pastoralist. So much material in the mountains and woods …this landscape is powerful and my notebook was never far from my hand.

This year we have been delighted to host Jane Anderson Wood and her group of artists.
Jane came for a week in September. They stayed at Quinta da Relva and a neighbouring house.
Together we worked out an itinerary which include airport transfers, day trips to the coast and into the mountain with our guide and meals delivered to the house by our cook as the artists worked. There were evening trips to restaurants and time to relax and swim and do nothing.

In 2017 some discerning people will be hosting small groups in this inspiring location, making jewellery, painting and writing.

A cosy family home, with big open fire and hayloft, lovingly restored, a real labour of love. Swim in spring water, lie in the 3 acre garden eating fruit as it drops off the trees; drink wine from the local adega. Beach life is 40 mins away in either direction. Chose from the south coast, small secluded coves and boat trips; or go west, through foothills and forests for big beaches, national park; spot dolphins and walk the cliffs.

We can accommodate groups from 4 to 20 and can arrange airport pick up, transport. meals, activities and trips. Amalia our housekeeper looks after the house and there is a full time English speaking manager nearby. Available all year.

If you would like to talk your ideas through so we can work out some costings, suggest some itineraries, how we can support you and how we can assist with marketing we would be delighted to help.
